Technical Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Technical Lead will be directly responsible for ensuring the highest quality delivery of all TPO’s technical programmes including planning, allocation of resources, and direct supervision and development of all technical training staff, in line with budget expectations. When required the Technical Lead will be sufficiently experienced to deputise for the GM and assist in a technical nature to support all new business development activity.
- • With line management responsibility for all technical training staff and the IQA, the Technical Lead will assume overall responsibility for ensuring all TPO’s technical training delivery is executed in line with awarding body and client expectations.
- • Ensuring adequate provision of technical personnel to deliver training plans.
- • Supported by the IQA, the Technical Lead will ensure TPO’s Management Systems, policies and procedures are all established and maintained and will ensure TPO fulfils of its HSSE obligations.
- • Supervision and development of all technical staff including annual performance setting and review.
- • Ensuring TPO’s technical programmes are reviewed, updated and relevant to Oman and International industry demand.
- • Ensuring adequate instructional staff and resources are available.
- • Overall responsibility for ensuring TPO maintains its 3rd party accreditations and licenses and is compliant with all existing and new legislation.
- • Provide regular feedback to all technical staff and agree Learning Interventions to close Identified Competency Gaps as necessary.
- • Demonstrate a high level of understanding with regards to plant operations and plant maintenance
- • Ensure adequate maintenance plans are in place for all plant and equipment to avoid breakdown and downtime
- • Be able to troubleshoot and complete maintenance on running plant where necessary
- • Lead the technical elements of proposal development with support of Petrofac commercial and operational teams and support the GM in growing new business and new revenue streams
- • Responsible for the procurement of consumables and maintenance expenditure ensuring they meet TPO’s budgetary standards
- • Ensure all client short course requirements are responded to in a timely manner
- • Coordinate TPO short courses – internally in TPO and in external locations
- • Facilitate the administration duties related to TPO short courses
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
SKILLS:
- •Demonstrable management experience in the leadership and development of oil and gas resources; preferable focused experience of managing technical training.
- •Demonstrable experience of delivering cost saving activities and organisational efficiency improvement programme.
- •Ability to manage professional staff and work in a team environment
- •Experience of managing multi-cultural workforces
- •Strong technical engineering, project engineering or operations management background
- •Understanding of oil and gas-based skills training programmes, delivery practices and accreditation standards/awarding bodies.
- •Ability to consistently meet deadlines and targets
- •Demonstrate strong leadership skills
- •Demonstrable experience of managing culturally diverse teams of professional training and support related staff
- •Ability to communicate at all levels, fluent in English.
- •Be able to communicate and liaise with key clients and offer solutions to training needs
- •Pastoral care including student counseling
- •Deputize for the TPO GM as and when required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- · Educated to a minimum of bachelor's degree in Technical Engineering or Productions Operations discipline
- · Lead IQA Qualification
- • A minimum of 15 years Hands-on training management/supervision/co-ordination experience in the Oil and Gas/Energy sector industry.
