The Flight Instructor (FI) is responsible for providing flight training to student pilots, ensuring that they acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to safely operate aircraft.
Responsibilities
Safety: Prioritize safety at all times during flight training. Instructors should promote the safety culture and ensure that students understand the importance of safety procedures and practices.
Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations to Ensure that flight training activities are conducted in strict compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and the ATO's manuals.
Lesson Planning: Develop lesson plans and training materials that align with the approved training curriculum. Ensure that instructional materials are accurate and up-to-date.
Flight Planning: Assist students in planning flights, including route selection, weather analysis, and performance calculations. Ensure that flight plans comply with all regulations and safety considerations.
Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (TKI)

Providing Theoretical Knowledge instruction in accordance with the ATO Training Manuals.
Responsibilities
The Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (TKI) is responsible for:
Supporting the CTKI by ensuring effective and on-time delivery of all theoretical training instruction activities in accordance with the approved syllabi;
Ensuring that theoretical knowledge instruction is conducted to the required standards, techniques and teaching principles;
Only use OAA approved lesson plans, presentations, internal examinations and handouts;
Maintaining complete and accurate training records for students;
Developing syllabus and lesson plan/presentation material at the direction of the CTKI;
Maintaining current versions of any electronic based authorized teaching materials;
Being responsible for the management, welfare and pastoral care of students undergoing theoretical training if appointed as Course Mentors;
Taking primary responsibility to ensure that all students’ training, including remedial training where required, is supervised in accordance with OAA published procedures and reported to the CTKI when necessary;
Carrying out any other supplementary duties as required by the CTKI (or Deputy CTKI if appointed).
