Job Advertisement: Director of Legal Affairs
Position Overview
D42 is seeking a Director of Legal Affairs to oversee all legal matters for our fisheries operations. This role will provide expert guidance in environmental law, corporate law, contract law, and compliance with Omani regulations. We are looking for a candidate with a solid understanding of international and Omani legal frameworks, along with experience in business law and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Counsel & Guidance
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on a wide range of legal matters affecting aquaculture operations.
- Advise departmental leaders on legal issues, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and compliance requirements.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental and agricultural laws, particularly those related to environmental protection in aquaculture.
- Stay informed on changes in international and Omani corporate and contract law, offering proactive advice on compliance and risk mitigation.
Contract Management
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents for business transactions, partnerships, and commercial activities.
- Ensure that all contracts adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
Risk Management & Litigation
- Conduct legal assessments, due diligence, and risk analysis to mitigate liabilities associated with business initiatives and projects.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, disputes, and negotiations with external parties, including regulatory agencies, suppliers, and partners.
Collaboration & Policy Development
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and compliance teams, to develop and implement legal strategies and policies that align with business goals.
- Provide guidance on corporate governance matters, including corporate structuring, board matters, and regulatory compliance.
External Counsel Management
- Oversee relationships with external legal service providers, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal services.
- Manage legal expenses and budgets to ensure efficient use of resources.
Legal Training & Development
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance legal awareness and compliance within the organization.
- Equip teams with the necessary legal knowledge to support daily operations and long-term objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field; advanced degree in Business Law or Corporate Law is preferred.
- Extensive experience in corporate legal roles, with a focus on environmental law, business law, and contract law.
- Strong understanding of Omani and international legal frameworks related to aquaculture and environmental protection.
- Proven track record of providing strategic legal counsel in a corporate setting, with experience in managing complex legal matters.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage legal teams, with experience overseeing external legal counsel and managing legal budgets.

إدارة المخاطر والمنازعات
- إجراء تقييمات قانونية وتدقيق ون análisis risk لتقليل الالتزامات المرتبطة بالمبادرات والمشاريع التجارية.
- تمثيل الشركة في الإجراءات القانونية والمنازعات والتفاوض مع الأطراف الخارجية، بما في ذلك الوكالات التنظيمية والموردين والشركاء.
