Aquaculture Farm Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of shrimp breeding and genetics programs, including broodstock management, breeding selection, and genetic improvement initiatives.
- Oversee the operation of shrimp hatcheries, including larval rearing, nursery management, and post-larvae production, to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
- Develop and implement breeding strategies, protocols, and procedures to enhance shrimp performance, disease resistance, and growth traits.
- Utilize basic knowledge of selection principles in aquaculture to identify and propagate superior genetic lines, optimizing production efficiency and product quality.
- Ensure compliance with best aquaculture practices, biosecurity requirements, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe and sustainable operating environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, production, and quality assurance, to integrate genetic improvement programs into overall farm operations.
- Manage and mentor a team of 10+ employees, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to enhance team capabilities and achieve production goals.
- Implement effective reporting practices and monitoring systems to track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze breeding data, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Oversee inventory management, procurement of necessary supplies, and maintenance of breeding facilities and equipment to support uninterrupted operations.
- Be present at the farm site 3-5 days a week, located 450 km from Muscat, Oman, to oversee breeding and hatchery operations and provide hands-on leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in aquaculture, biology of fishes, marine invertebrates, or a related field. A
- Professional experience in shrimp breeding with hands-on experience in running shrimp hatcheries.
- Basic knowledge of selection principles in aquaculture, with a strong understanding of breeding techniques and genetic improvement strategies.
- Understanding of best aquaculture practices, biosecurity requirements, and regulatory standards relevant to shrimp breeding operations.
- Proven experience in managing teams of 10+ employees, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
